Isaiah 40:18 “To whom then will you liken God, or what likeness compare with him?”

When you consider the God of heaven and earth, to what can you compare Him?
What in His creation would be adequate to describe the self-existent source of all life? When we consider the abundance of God’s attributes, we must take into account everything that we don’t possess. No false idol can capture His image, no animal can simulate His Spirit, no jewel His beauty, nor can a man mimic His power and authority. Many have tried to replace the Lord, all have fallen incredibly short. People have built impressively large edifices inlaid with ornate beauty, and tried to simulate the magnitude of God’s sovereign power, they will take pilgrimages to these objects hoping for a miracle. But those objects cannot express the attributes of a Holy God.
The Lord stands alone in beauty….
- Self-Existent (Acts 17:24-25)(John 5:26) He has no origin, He has no beginning, but He is the original cause of all things. Exodus 3 “I Am who I Am” God lives forever in the present tense. There is no before or after, only now for the Lord. He is the living and self-existent one.
- He is the author and source of all life. (Isaiah 44:6) (Psalm 100:3) It is He who made us. (John 1:3) Nothing was made apart from Him. (Psalm 33:6) By His word, the Heavens were made. By His breath, all the host. In other words, He breathed life into all Creation. (Revelation 4:11) There is one God through whom all things exist. (1 Corinthians 8:6)
- All of His attributes share the same perfection. You can’t get imperfection from perfection. Sin doesn’t originate from Holiness. (Psalm 100:5). The Lord is good and He is love. True love does not exist apart from Him.
- All His works are complete. Nothing can change them. (Psalm 33:11), (Psalm 115:3), (Isaiah 46:9-10). What He has done, no power can undo.
- He is supremely magnified in Jesus Christ.(Revelation 1:8), the Alpha and Omega. (Colossians 1:16), all things were created by Him and for Him.
- He is above all Fear. (Revelation 1:17-18). For His people, He removes all fear. Death and Hell has no authority over Him. Salvation is secure in the finished work of Christ.

Behind every false object lies evil. Demons deceive the deceivers, leading them in an attempt to draw people away from the True God. They receive peoples prayers and praise, knowing they lead them to their destruction. Evil has had much of its way for a season, but a time of reckoning is coming.
The God of all power and might holds judgement in His hand, nothing affects His position, nothing can diminish His glory. It is only before the eyes of the people can wickedness scheme and deceive, but the veil is about to be lifted.
Isaiah 28:5 “In that day the LORD of hosts will be a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people,”
The splendor of God will be the crown of His people. They are today but a dim representation of His glory, but that glory in its fullness will be revealed. All falsity will fade away, all darkness and evil will be subdued, the King of kings will be exalted and His people will rejoice in Him. Every argument will be exposed, every lie overturned, and the Lord will reveal all that He has prepared for those who trust in Him.
He stands Alone
Why is it so important for us to recognize the uniqueness of God’s position and glory?
Isaiah 8:13 “But the LORD of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.”
There is only one place we will all stand in give account for our lives….it is before the throne of the living God. The Lord of hosts is who formed the world and He will judge it with equity. There is no other.
1 Chronicles 29:11 “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.”
Since the Lord alone will be exalted in that day, we would take care to follow His commandments. His Word is found in the Bible. There is no other book, there is no hidden messages, secret plates, or revelation apart from Him. There are no angelic revelations that deny His Word nor can any power stand against Him.
The Lord is sovereign and He is holy, and upon the great throne of Heaven sits Jesus.
Jesus is God

When we consider the throne of God, we see elements of His rule that define His position.
Psalm 89:14 “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.”
Righteousness is the perfection of God’s holiness. It is that perfection He demands of His people. If they don’t come before Him in purity, they will be found guilty.
Some may ask how this is possible? How can anyone be absolved of sin and be found justified before the Bema seat?
The moral law is the path but it is an impossible task to uphold. No one can keep the law perfectly therefore a mediator had to be given. Jesus came to seek and save the lost. He paid the price of salvation that everyone might be free and join with Him in glory. To all who confess with their mouth and believe in their heart….they might be saved.
Justice is reserved for the ungodly and sinner. When sin is held to the standard of righteousness, it brings conviction and death.
The Lord does not compromise His standard. The moral law is eternal and maintains the basis of relationship with God. To know Him is to walk with Him in righteousness and be found faithful.
Proverbs 16:12 “Wicked behavior is detestable for kings, for a throne is established through righteousness”.”
The ultimate King is Jesus. Sin is a personal offense against Him. The moral law is a reflection of His nature and when it is violated, it is a violation against Him.
John 15:10 “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.”

How can a person abide within the love of God?
To keep God’s commandments is to maintain fellowship with Him. It is an expression of love to God by walking in obedience. To abide is to stay, to dwell and to endure. It’s not easy walking in purity but the effort does not go unnoticed.
To walk consistently in God’s commandments is to demonstrate to the world that you know Him and love Him.
1 John 2:3 “By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.”
This is where eternal security is found. It brings confidence and great strength to walk in fellowship with God.
There is a great hope that is coming….
Jude 1:21 “keep yourselves in the love of God as you await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you eternal life.”
For all who are found faithful…their reward will be great. Reward that is handed down from the incomparable God of glory.
