A Conversation with God

Psalm 141:2 “Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.”

If you were to have a conversation with God, what would you ask Him? Would you be able to speak at all?

When we survey the Word of God we come to realize that the Bible is like a love letter from Him. There have been many people who have encountered the Lord personally and have asked questions that God has already answered.

What have you asked of God that you might not understand or know how He has already responded?

Every response He gives, He gives with a purpose.

I proposed a conversation with God that shows many answers He has already given. This prayer is similar to many I have prayed before.

Starting your Day

Me: “But I, O Lord, cry to you; in the morning my prayer comes before you.”

God: Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, And come along!”

Me: “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”

God: I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.

Me: “I lift my praises to you Oh Lord, your name is worthy of all glory”

God: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”

Me: “I desire that I go your way, that you lead me on your path today”

God: The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.”

Me: “I know you are working in ways I cannot see, help me to walk in your way”

God: “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Me: “Yes, my King, I need your strength, at my job and in this world. I covet your protection as I travel and I’m so thankful you supply my needs”

God: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Me: “I pray that I keep my eyes on you and not on this world”

God: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Me: “I want my every thought, word, and action to glorify you. I know you will not tolerate my allegiance to anything else. I’ve committed my life to you Lord, I don’t want anyone to think differently of you with my conduct.”

God: If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

Me: “I see the anger, the hatred, the rage from the world has toward you Jesus. I wish they could know your kindness”

God: “they will do these things because they have not known the Father or Me.As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.”

Me: “I will Lord. I know I shouldn’t look for the world’s applause and yet I grow so weary with the temptations in this world.”

God: “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”

Me: “The model you showed me Lord is the one that I will follow. I love to see how you always prayed during the day, you took your direction from the Father. Lord, I want to know your Way in the same way the Father showed you”

God: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”

Me: “I rejoice when I see your creation. The beauty that your hands created, it all reflects your greatness”

God: “The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.
Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.”

Me: “You have shown me so much love, there is simply no way to repay you, so I will show that love to others….Yes…that’s how I’ll love you, by loving them.“

God: You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”

Me: “I can’t do it on my own Lord, I need your guidance in bearing fruit, I need your power. How can I bear fruit in this world of darkness?”

God: But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

Prayer at Midday

Me: “Lord, I need be more patient. I get so caught up in moving from place to place, expecting change to happen over night, I lose sight of your Hand moving in ways I do not see.”

God: “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”

Me: “Lord, I have seen your faithfulness in my life. I am so grateful that you have never left me nor forsaken me. Thank you for your love.”

God: “My righteousness is near, My salvation has gone forth, And My arms will judge the peoples; The coastlands will wait upon Me, And on My arm they will trust.”

Me: “Father, you know what I need before I even ask of it. I have been praying that I can be a testimony to my neighbors, to those I work with, to my family, you know how weak I am, I need your strength to be the light you want me to be.”

God: “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”

Me: “Lord, I know that if I abide in you, and your Words abide in me, that you will work through me for your glory. That is what I desire Lord, not my will but yours be done.

God: “Now if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, you will be My treasured possession out of all the nations–for the whole earth is Mine.

Me: “Lord, I know you are always leading, my trouble is I often fail to follow. Please help me in my unbelief. Please help me to see with your eyes, to hear with your ears, and to love as you love.”

God: My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.”

Me: “I desire to grow in wisdom, I know I need more understanding”

God: Discretion will preserve you;
Understanding will keep you,
To deliver you from the way of evil,
From the man who speaks perverse things,”

Me: “How do I grow in these attributes Lord? It seems every time I try to do what is right, I fail.”

God: “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and will bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you.”

Me: “There is so much uncertainty in this world, I know you are unchanging and your mercies never fail, help me to trust you more.”

God: fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”

Me: “I long, O Lord, for your return. I desire to be found faithful until that day comes.”

God: “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.”

Me: “Lord I know I must be faithful in the small things, that I might be entrusted with other things. Lead me in your way.”

God: “Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations; I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Me: “Lord, the world seems to be growing darker and darker by the hour. They seem to drown their cares in alcohol and entertainment. Anger and rage seem to be the common practice in our cities”

God: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Prayer in the Evening

Me: “Please forgive me of my trespasses Father. I know you are Holy, I desire to be Holy as well.”

God: For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Me: “thank you for listening to my prayer, I feel like I have so many needs, and yet I trust you.”

God: Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Me: “You are so good to me. Please lead me away from temptation.”

God: Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”

Me: “I desire to love you Lord, with all my heart, all my soul, all my strength, and with all my mind”

God: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Me: “Thank you my Father for the hope I have to be in Heaven with You”

God: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Me: “It has been a wonderful day Father, I know you will watch over me faithfully and your joy will be my strength.”

God: “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.”

Conclusion:

Every response I’ve included here is from scripture. There are so many other promises the Lord makes to us. He reassures us of His love and faithfulness. He reminds us of His sovereignty and holiness. He is faithful and good always. When we abide in Christ, we find that our paths lead only to good and our ways are secure.

Remember that prayer is vital in a relationship with Christ. He has the answers and He will lead you in them if you will only ask.
