Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

We live in a world where a person’s identity has become a position of choice. If we stepped back in time even 20 years ago, most would have thought the idea of people arguing about how to define a woman would have seemed ridiculous, but here we are…
The progression of people who deny God lends itself to all sorts of blurred lines. From morality to mayhem, the way people determine what is right and wrong has become a personal choice to the world. It’s always been a personal choice for people to decide how they want to act, whether they choose to obey laws or break them, but now the expectation is for others to acknowledge the persons personal choice as if it were legitimate, regardless of how nonsensical it sounds.
When a person decides to “identify” as a gender that is opposite their biological code, they choose to reject any notion of why they are here.
Life lacks purpose when it is reduced to a position of fluidity.
Psalm 139:13-14 “For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.”
God’s inspired Word reveals purpose to life.

Building on the description of David, the knitting together of life emphasizes a process of meticulous performance. I’ve watched my mother knit all sorts of creative things and recognized the skill, patience, and purposeful approach she took in forming the items she had in mind. The incredible complexity of life shows God’s creative genius, His purposeful formation of a little boy or girl in its mother’s womb reveals the magnificence of His power.
When a person denies their form, they deny God’s reason for creating them. They reject any thought that they might have a path that God had set before them and denies the love that goes into making something that reflects God Himself.
Why has there risen such a confusion of conscience?
Job 31:15 “Did not He who made me in the womb also make them? Did not the same One form us in the womb?”
I do not hate people who claim an identity other than their biological sex, the same God who formed me formed them. His image is imprinted upon them. They may not acknowledge any connection to God but that doesn’t change who they are, they simply deny His truth. The world claims that to misuse a pronoun by which a person chooses to identify is akin to hatred, I choose to disagree.
Why would one choice be elevated over another? If I call a man a woman who has coded within his genetics an XY chromosome, I would be stating a lie. It’s not difficult for a physician to determine the sex of a baby the very moment it exits the womb. As soon as the little boy or girl is born, the exclamation is made…”It’s a boy” or “It’s a girl”. To the joy of the parents, they love that little child regardless, just as God loves them for He knitted them together and breathed life into their soul.
What is it that identifies people as special in all of creation?
Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
People are created in the image of God. Not because we have two eyes or a nose, not because we have two legs or arms…there have been many people born who lacked certain anatomical characteristics such as these. No, people resemble their maker because their whole being resembles Him.

We are all made body, mind, and spirit. Those three elements comprise the whole of our being.
The body is what is tangible. It is what a surgeon has learned to repair. It is what people try to mangle and transform, thinking that changing their appearance somehow changes who they are. Losing a leg doesn’t make someone any less human, nor does hormone therapy make a boy into a girl…it just can’t happen.
The mind is often likened to the soul. It is where we make decisions in life. It is where we choose to act in obedience to God or reject His call. The mind is ultimately where the heart is, either softening toward God or hardening against His will.
The spirit is what remains when the body dies. The spirit of a person is the essence of their being. The spirit carries with it the decisions of the mind and with it the imprint of sin or purity of grace. The spirit cannot perish. It will either exist with God or apart from Him for eternity. When a person’s body dies, they either transition into eternal life or eternal death. Eternal life is united with God and His people. Eternal death is separation from God and His people into a place of torment with all who have rejected His love. Either way, the spirit continues to exist and with it the memories of life.
So for a person to claim to be someone or something that is other than who they are is a lie, and all lies emanate from one source.
John 8:44 “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
Transgenderism is spiritual confusion. The person who hates who they are often reflects a world that has shown hatred toward them. Many kids who can’t come to grips with their biological sex have been abused. The wickedness of sin in parents or people who prey upon the innocent is a reflection of our society as a whole. Many of the homeless I’ve met through the years have very similar stories. When sex dominates televisions, movies, and is promoted in magazines and on computers, it infects peoples hearts and minds. The heart that is already turned away from God is more easily turned toward greater darkness.
When Jesus spoke on the state of the world in the last days, He likened it to the status of the world right before God judged it with a world wide flood.
Genesis 6:5 “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Matthew 24:37 “For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
The world continues to drift further from the Truth. The lies of the enemy reach to the very core of humanity and the result is confusion, hatred, and many who despair of life.

What is the solution?
The solution is always Jesus.
John 1:1-5 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
When we look to the One who formed us and loves us, we look to the original source code. He Created life, it was by His genius we are made, and within His creative work shows purpose. He wants us to know Him. When we are united with Christ, we are a new creation, the old nature takes a back seat, the new nature is renewed day by day.
Believers must show love to a world that is wandering in the darkness. The light of Christ shines through the redeemed and brings hope. Sharing the gospel is as important now as it ever has been. The world looks for an identity to bring some form of comfort but it will never bring what they hoped.
The only identity worth pursuing is an identity in Christ. For He is where the joy is.
