Hebrews 1:1-2 “Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world”

Have you ever read the Bible completely through? It could have been a reading plan that guided you each day through portions of the Word, maybe chronologically, or as some people do, from Genesis to Revelation. Whatever way you go about reading the Word (and I do encourage you to read all of it), what resounding theme shines through……
Whether it is the Old Testament or New Testament, Jesus is the central theme of the entire Bible. From the beginning of Creation, to the covenants with Adam, Noah, and Abraham, Jesus has been at the center of our existence.
Why is it so important for us to understand the preeminence of Jesus? Why does Jesus surpass all rulers and authorities? Why is He alone worthy of all praise and worship?
Listen to the writer of Hebrews describe Him…
Hebrews 1:3 “He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high”
When you think of the glory of God…it is Jesus.
When you look around at the world, the mountains, valleys, rivers, oceans, and stars…they were Jesus’ idea.
When you consider the wickedness of mankind and the moral failure of every person who has ever lived…we can only thank Jesus for making a way out of our impending judgment.
Jesus is not an angel as some have surmised. Angels are very uniquely created beings who serve Jesus’ throne.
Hebrews 1:4-7 “having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again,“I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds,
and his ministers a flame of fire.”
Jesus is preeminent over angels, over creation, over man, over all that exalts itself against God’s rule. Jesus is at the right hand of God which means He holds the power and authority of God as God.
There is no-one who compares to Him.
Hebrews 1:8-9 “But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”

The imagery of Psalm 45 is a reminder to the Hebrews that Jesus was and is the One who fulfilled the role of Messiah. That as God He came in the flesh to redeem His people back to Himself. What the enemy meant to destroy, Jesus restored.
Simply put: Jesus’ rule and His reign is one that will endure forever.
There is much more that can be said about Jesus, you can know Him yourself if you choose. He died for all who accept His call to repentance.
I encourage you today…with the beginning of the new year, read through the Bible and watch the ways Jesus appears over and over again.
He never left us and He never will.
