In that Day…

Isaiah 2:17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

The phrase “in that day”, has been used over 70 times in the Bible. The implication has been one of prophecy, revelation of things to come, or an indictment. My interest is one of revelation, meaning, looking into the grand spectrum of events that will preclude a major spiritual event on earth. There are so many signs in this world, it’s hard to keep track of all the events that reveal the urgency of the hour. The evil days in which we live are ushering in a new era, an era where the Lord will reign on earth and evil will see its end. There is so much in God’s Word regarding last days events, I thought I’d focus on one aspect of end times revelation, an indicator that says, “pay attention”, the Lord is in control, these will happen in His timing.

The reference in Isaiah is one that brings hope. While many want to exalt themselves, their party, or their position, we see that only Christ will be exalted when this day arrives…and it won’t be mankind.

The references for what is to come are reminders that God is in control. For those who live faithfully, the expectant reward comes with the owner of the vineyard. For the wretched who have despised the Lord, the wrath of God awaits its final conclusion.

Amos 9:13 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD,
“when the plowman shall overtake the reaper
and the treader of grapes him who sows the seed;
the mountains shall drip sweet wine,
and all the hills shall flow with it.”

The time of great harvest and blessing has been fulfilled, Israel has been revived and has exceeded what many nations thought it couldn’t. Likewise, the great harvest of souls is drawing to a close. The age of the church is about to conclude, the period of tribulation is about to begin. When the reckoning of God falls, all of the worlds power will be drawn away, all that is false will be cast down, and those who have relished in their pride will hide away like cowards.

Isaiah 2:20-21 “In that day mankind will cast away
their idols of silver and their idols of gold,
which they made for themselves to worship,
to the moles and to the bats,
to enter the caverns of the rocks
and the clefts of the cliffs,
from before the terror of the LORD,
and from the splendor of his majesty,
when he rises to terrify the earth.”

A New Era

The message for ‘that day’ will become the message fulfilled ‘this day’. The time of satan’s rule is about to conclude and all who have followed him will find they have misplaced their affection.

*The LORD alone will be exalted

The multitude of false gods will be brought down, the pride of man will be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted. If we don’t exalt Him now, we will not exalt Him later. When judgement comes, so comes disgrace to those who have rejected Him. There is no exaltation from the camp of the defeated, there is only shame.

*On that day the LORD will whistle

Isaiah 5:26 “He will raise a signal for nations far away, and whistle for them from the ends of the earth; and behold, quickly, speedily they come!” The Lord will beckon for His people to come out of the earth and nothing will hold them back. He knows His own and His own know Him.

*On that day the Lord will use a razor

The razor cuts clean, it brings shame upon those who prided themselves in man’s ambitions. When the head and beard is shaved, the pride in orthodoxy and tradition is reduced to ashes.

*On that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples. The nations will seek Him, and His place of rest will be glorious.

Jesus was He who came through the root of Jesse, David’s father. The promised Messiah has been revealed and He has accomplished His work. For those who place their trust in Him, that Kingdom will have no end.

*On that day the Lord will extend His hand a second time to recover the remnant.

The Lord is thorough in His work, there will not be one single soul left who might follow Him.

Isaiah 11:11 “In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.”

*When they cry out to the LORD because of their oppressors, He will send them a Savior and defender to rescue them.

The open arms of God extend grace because of Jesus alone. Without Christ we would be lost.

*The LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and on that day Egypt will acknowledge the LORD.

For those who cannot be reached by mankind, God will reveal Himself in full.

*In that day the LORD will punish the host of heaven above and the kings of the earth below.

All fallen angels await their judgement, they will not be spared when the day of reckoning comes.

*And it shall be, in that day,”
Says the Lord,
That you will call Me ‘My Husband,’
And no longer call Me ‘My Master,’

The bride of Christ will be revealed, the church awaits that wedding day.

*On that day,” declares the LORD, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the outcast, even those whom I have afflicted.

*On that day many nations will join themselves to the LORD, and they will become My people. I will dwell among you, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem. Be silent before the LORD, all people, for He has roused Himself from His holy dwelling.”

A Day of Blessing

*And it will come to pass in that day That the mountains shall drip with new wine, The hills shall flow with milk, And all the brooks of Judah shall be flooded with water; A fountain shall flow from the house of the LORD And water the Valley of Acacias.

*Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For their fathers treated the prophets in the same way

*In that day you will no longer ask Me anything. Truly, truly, I tell you, whatever you ask the Father in My name, He will give you

This Day of the Lord, is one where we see God’s recompense of the proud and honor of the righteous. His reward will be great, whether it is a reward for righteousness or a reward for unrighteousness, the magnitude of God’s hand moving carries heavy weight.

A Day that is Cursed

*In that day the hearts of Edom’s mighty men will be like the heart of a woman in labor.

*Therefore, her young men will fall in the streets, and all her warriors will be silenced in that day,” declares the LORD.

~This reminder that God will have His vengeance is a solemn reminder that our actions, the things we say, and the bitterness of our hearts are not without consequence. To those who live outside the grace of God, the trouble that lies ahead is more than they can imagine.~

Jeremiah 50:31-32 “Behold, I am against you,
O most haughty one!” says the Lord God of hosts;
“For your day has come,
The time that I will punish you.
The most proud shall stumble and fall,
And no one will raise him up;
I will kindle a fire in his cities,
And it will devour all around him.”

~Those who exalt themselves are lead by a cruel master, Satan has perfected his position of pride and his followers follow suite. Fists of defiance raised in the air, rebellion, rage, we see all of this today. Those who need to justify themselves by destroying all they can has had the opposite effect than what was hoped for~

Those who follow Christ take a different path…

Isaiah 51:6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished.”

Who are those that are in the camp of the righteous, who is it that delights in His salvation?

**The camp of the righteous embodies the attributes of our Savior. They show forth repentance and reliance on God’s strength, they seek after His Truth, they practice love, holiness, gentleness, and a steadfast spirit. God’s people live for Christ. The Spirit of God manifests His glory through those who submit to His Spirit.

We live in a day of great peril. The darkness is overtaking every facet of society. Many in the church have been hamstrung by fear, separation and in some cases cultural compromise. We see evil refusing to hide since the veil of false righteousness has been lifted.

Thoughts of judgement can be a dark shadow for those who have no hope. For those who hope in the Lord, it is a time of anxious anticipation.

Matthew 24:7-24 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. all these are the beginning of sorrows. Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

‘That day’ is about to Arrive

We are witnessing the persecution of believers all over the world. China has progressively become more Anti-christian, Turkey has been Radicalizing their Muslim faith upon all who oppose it, anti-semitism is spreading across the globe, and the radical left is attempting to demonize people of faith.

Israel’s 3rd temple has been pre-fabricated, the blueprints drawn up, the temple artifacts assembled and the Sanhedrin has been reinstituted. Orthodox Jews have been moving forward in the rebuilding of the temple are waiting for a “sign from God”. The sign I believe that will usher in this new age will be the rediscovery of the Ark of the covenant.

The imminent return of Christ’s waits for no one. The Ezekiel 38 war is on the horizon. The armies that will clash in this Great War are forming and this historic event will be the precursor to ushering in the anti-Christ.

We must be ready for Christ’s return my friends. If we are to be prepared, if we take the high calling of God with the seriousness that His glory demands we must lay aside all that hinders and put on all the righteousness He has clothed us with. As John the Baptist once decried, “prepare the way of the Lord”, we must likewise tell it to the world.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.”

That day will be a day in which all who have ever hoped in Christ will be rewarded for their faithfulness. The Lord is not slow as some count slowness to be but He is patient with you, not desiring that any should perish. Be patient and live like you live for eternity, the reward will be worth the wait.

I hope to see you all there!
