A New World Order

Revelation 13:7-8 “Then the beast was permitted to wage war against the saints and to conquer them, and it was given authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation. And all who dwell on the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written from the foundation of the world in the Book of Life belonging to the Lamb who was slain.”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia recently labeled the alliance of Russia and China an “Arc of Autocracy” and said they would prefer a new world order to the one that has been in place since World War II.

When I read a headline like this, it causes me to sit up and take notice. When heads of state make statements that mirror biblical prophecy I tend to file it away as another sign of the days in which we live.

The world is changing rapidly—blame it on a global pandemic or relate it to a predicted order of events which God has preordained since the beginning of time, either way, we are witnessing a world taking form before our eyes.

Conspiracy Theory

If there is one theme that has dominated the 21st century it is the topic of conspiracies. With the explosion of the internet the past 30 years and subsequent growth of social media, the sharing of ideas has dominated the airwaves. What people would normally keep to themselves they share regularly on sites that seem innocuous and sterile, devoid of face to face personal interaction, the ease of throwing out random ideas has shaped large portions of people’s thinking. Much of our older population is so used to an expectation of honesty that they’ll believe a video if it’s backed up by someone that seems respectable. Little do people know how easy it is to manipulate a video or image to appear legitimate.

I try my best not to get caught up in conspiracies, if something sounds outrageous or too good to be true, it usually is. The one thing I’ve found that is not too good to be true is Jesus’ redemption of mankind and His promise to restore the world back to what He originally intended.

2 Timothy 4:3 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

The common theme in conspiracy theories concerning a New World Order is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda. The idea is how they are conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian one-world government—which will replace sovereign nation-states—and an all-encompassing propaganda whose ideology hails the establishment of the New World Order as the culmination of history’s progress.

This popular theory is backed up by pictures of oligarch’s and leaders meeting up at secret locations, leaving people speculating as to the agenda.

Whether there exists a man-made agenda or not seems a bit contrived, I’m sure there are plenty of people who would love to see themselves in power but what many christians are acutely aware of is the greater influence of God upon the world.

When someone tells me about some credible evidence of a global conspiracy, I remind them that God is sovereign. This means that God has all power, authority, and right to exercise His will over the affairs of mankind. Mankind might make plans to rule the world but God is the One who elevates kings and takes them down. There is no virus that is out of God’s control, if something is present it has been allowed by God.

Godly Control

People will ask why God allows evil in the earth and truthfully this question is as complex as God Himself. Why does God make the decisions that He does? Why does God allow suffering and give dictators the opportunity to commit crimes too heinous to speak of? Why?

1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 “You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.”

If you understood all that God sees, if you were able to relate what you witnessed to an eternal perspective of perfect holiness with an eye to the past and the future, you might gain some perspective as to why God acts the way He does.

We know about God’s character, we have witnessed Him in the flesh executing His purpose in His Creation but we have not been informed of the fullness of His reason. We know that God acts out of love. We know His moral law is a reflection of His nature. We know that He loves to create and there is a unique relationship within the godhead that exceeds our ability to grasp an eternal perspective of God.

The more I study the Word of God, the more I see the image of God revealed.

God is not relegated to one single point of view. Take for instance the ability to understand the statement in scripture…”God is Love“. This is like saying the Universe is vast and then looking through a large telescope and realizing the statement only implies a much greater reality. When we look into the Word of God we realize there is far more to the image of God than we see from the outset. Yes, God is love but peer into that love and you will be overwhelmed by the measure of what that love entails—how far reaching His love touches, and forms, and binds, and creates.

Worldly Order

1 John 5:4 “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”

The world may think it is in control, it will find out soon enough that it was not. God is in control and His purposes will be fulfilled.

During the 20th century, political figures such as Woodrow Wilson and Winston Churchill used the term “new world order” to refer to a new period of history characterized by a dramatic change in world political thought and in the global balance of power after World War I and World War II. The interwar and post-World War II period were seen as opportunities to implement idealistic proposals for global governance by collective efforts to address worldwide problems that go beyond the capacity of individual nation-states to resolve, while nevertheless respecting the right of nations to self-determination.

Today, the culmination of this “new world order” is manifesting in the form of western and eastern alliances. With Russia and China forming a superpower alliance as well as multiple other countries who have been swallowed up by these giants, the formation of end time world events is taking shape.

Ezekiel 38:2 “Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.”

No matter how hard the world tries to bring about peace, true peace can only be achieved by God. Dominating other countries by sheer force or eliminating threats by attacking another countries sovereignty is the world’s means by achieving peace.

God’s Order

John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

The peace of God is already present in this world. The Kingdom of Heaven is in the hearts of every true believer and God manifests His power among them. One day, the Lord will reveal His church and that which was hidden from the world will become evident.

Romans 8:19 “The creation waits in eager expectation for the revelation of the sons of God.”

The “New World Order” that mankind has been attempting to achieve for years will be a world order devoid of sin. You heard it right, God will purge the earth of all that is evil and will unite His people in one accord, with bodies that are no longer corrupt by sin.

Imagine a world that is not only new but no longer has sinners dwelling upon it. The curse of sin has infected every aspect of Creation, therefore God will renew all of Creation into an order that is acceptable, holy, and once again perfect.

Revelation 22:1-5 Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will worship Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.

If you want to know peace today and experience this same peace for eternity, there is only one path you can take. The narrow path of accepting Christ’s sacrifice for your sins is the journey to grace and restoration. Jesus fulfilled the requirement of death, a death the moral law requires against all who have sinned.

Jesus’ order of life will be with His people, they will bear His name and they will rejoice with Him for eternity.

The time to make this decision is now….don’t wait any longer.
