James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
Every act of giving that is good and every gift that is perfect comes down from the Father of lights, who does not change like the shifting shadow.
The shadow changes as the day progresses. As the sun rises and traverses into the western sky, the day brings with it a beginning and end.
With the Lord, there was never a beginning and there will never be an end.
Psalm 90:1-2 “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.”
The perfection of God is manifest in His glory. Goodness has been a label drained of it’s meaning but retained in it’s purpose. Only God is good, only God is perfect and therefore any gift God gives is good and perfect as well.
Anything made by God is good. Nothing that comes from God can be any less than who He is for it was by His power they were created.
Not only are things God created deemed as good, He chose to create them.
When we look at that which God has Created, we can see His goodness made evident.
Revelation 4:11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
*God Created the Universe. Hebrews 11:3 “By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”
*God created heaven and earth. Colossians 1:16 “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.”
*God created sea creatures and birds. Genesis 1:20 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”
*God created the animals upon the earth. Genesis 1:25 “And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
After all that God created, the heavens and the earth, light and darkness, and all the creatures of the earth He then saved the best for last….
*God created you. Psalm 139:13 “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
Both man and woman alike, He created them to inhabit the earth and multiply. We have many people on this earth for a reason, we were destined to have dominion over this earth and like all of Creation, we were made good, according to God’s character.
Mark 10:6 “But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’”
Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.”
The World may Change
Everything was good until sin entered and mankind died.
All of creation was corrupted by this sin and all of the world digressed from its original form that imitated God.
Genesis 6:11-12 “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.”
With all that we see and experience in this world, our perspective can be tainted by the position of our view. If we only can see the world from a low position, we will only see the corruption of God’s creation by sin. Our view of God will be filtered by the filth this world represents and when we see it from a corrupt position we might question the integrity of God’s goodness.
The world may change, God never does.
His goodness has remained the same from our inception, matter of fact it has remained the same for eternity past. If we can’t see God’s goodness, we are looking in the wrong places.
The corruption of mankind is a direct result of our rebellion. Evil can only be characterized as sin personified. God hasn’t changed, the world has changed and all we see today is the product of that rebellion.
Called Out of this World
Just as we were originally created in perfection according to God’s goodness, we have been called to return to that goodness today.
The form of God’s creation was to be representative of Himself…perfection. Jesus has now brought order to the chaos to all who would come out from the storm.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 “Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty.”
Just as God made us for fellowship with Him, so now we have been brought back into fellowship through the Son. To all who accept His good and perfect gift from above, to them He gave the right to be called sons and daughters of God, to all who believe.
The Lord will restore you into the form that He intended if you will only let Him. The first step is a step of faith in belief. The next step of salvation is to trust and follow.
Take your eyes of this world and all that it represents, it has nothing to offer.
Receive the perfection of righteousness that exists in Christ alone and be made new. Jesus has offered a good and perfect gift of grace to all who would receive it.
This is now the hope of life.
