Delusion

Psalm 4:2 “How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods.”

delusion is a belief that is clearly false and that indicates an abnormality in the affected person’s content of thought. … A person with a delusion is absolutely convinced that the delusion is real.

If you were walking through the Sahara desert and came over a ridge to find a vast body of water, the enticement would be difficult to overlook. Your need for water and the dehydration of the journey would make you crave the water you thought was there.

This world is starving for meaning and purpose, for all those who have lived by the philosophies of its purpose, they are spiritually hopeless and looking for anything to fill their thirst for God. Instead of looking to Jesus who can fill their spiritual drought with the water of life, they seek out other forms of idolatry that fits their lifestyles and yet leaves them empty.

Isaiah 51:15-18 “It is he who made the earth by his power,
who established the world by his wisdom,
and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
When he utters his voice there is a tumult of waters in the heavens,
and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
Every man is dull-hearted and without knowledge;
every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,
for his images are false,
and there is no breath in them.
They are worthless, a work of delusion;
at the time of their punishment they shall perish.”

There is only One God.

Empty Wells

The idea that you can take anything and make it work is the delusion of this age. The Universalist Church uses this form of polytheistic pathways to give their followers the notion that anyone who claims to be a deity is ultimately the same god. The hope that every pathway leads to the one true God is the hope of a fool.

Any deviancy from how God has defined Himself is a pathway into darkness. The hope that fulfillment can be acquired by any means that you desire is a self-absorbed attempt at making your own path and not following The Path of life.

The well of hope you draw from will be an empty promise that provides nothing of substance but dry dust.

Jeremiah 14:3 “The nobles send their servants for water; they go to the cisterns, but find no water; their jars return empty. They are ashamed and humiliated; they cover their heads.”

Origin of Life

Life can only be found in the one where life originated.

The hope for many is that if you are devout enough, then you will be given credit for your belief. If you are a muslim, the expectation is that you pray 5 times per day, the hope is that Allah will be pleased with your servitude and this false god will bless you for showing devotion. When Jehovah God sees your devotion to a false god, instead of receiving eternal reward, you receive condemnation. The shock of millions of muslims will be when they see Jesus exalted above all gods and find out allah was simply made up by Muhammed who is already relegated to the outcast and condemned in Hell.

Whether the worship of a devotee is directed to someone named ‘god’ or some variant of a jesus not defined by God’s Word, the result will be the same….wrath. Many have labeled Jesus by an interpretation that someone has claimed to be true. Instead of following who Jesus said He was, they follow what someone else said Jesus was.

Isaiah 46:8-10 “Remember this, and show yourselves men;
Recall to mind, O you transgressors. Remember the former things of old,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like Me,
Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure,’

The strong delusion of false hope is somehow more desirable than the real hope in Christ. How can this be?

The reality for many who think that a life of false hope is the best that religion has to offer, is founded in the community they subscribe to.

If someone has only had rancid water to drink their entire life, they don’t know what it’s like to not be sick or found wanting, their normal is a life that is sub-par. It isn’t until they have tasted of the springs of life is when they realize they have been thirsty all along.

Comfort Zone

To make up for the lack of substance, people get lost in tradition, servitude, and ceremony.

Attend a mass and you might hear chanting in latin, witness artful decor, and observe the wearing of priestly vestments that give you a sense of holiness. Many religions base the substance of their faith on the presentation of the service. Pray to anyone other than God alone and you practice idolatry. Lift anyone else up into the position of Christ as a co-redemptrix and you sign the death sentence of your conviction.

Many like the pageantry and pomp, they are comfortable in the space they have created and don’t want that comfort zone to change. They fill the lifeless void with alcohol or entertainment and yet the sadness of their estate is simply one they think is the norm.

The mirage of hope is for the seeker looking for substance. Jesus simply doesn’t make it that hard to find His well of supply.

John 4:13-14 “Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Seek the One true God and you will find all that you could ever hope to have. Stay content with less than the Lord has to give, and you’ll never know the freedom, joy, and fulfillment of walking in newness of life.
