“Therefore my people have gone into captivity, Because they have no knowledge; Their honorable men are famished, And their multitude dried up with thirst.”
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”
What is it about knowledge, particularly regarding the people of God that makes it so crucial in our lives?
1 John 2:21
“I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.”
What we see is that without knowledge, we are more apt to believe a lie! The enemy continually seeks whom he may devour, and lies are his specialty. He deceived Eve with a lie and the pattern just continues throughout human history.
So how do we counter the lies?
*By drawing from the Truth.
There is a reason why Jesus stated that not only He was truth personified in John 14:6 but that the Word of God was Truth in John 17:17.
You see, if we want knowledge, we go to the source. Seeking God’s leading takes humility, patience and a willing heart of obedience when we do hear instruction.
We get this directly from the Holy Spirit or through the Word of God. Sometimes, God may speak through someone else, and if they are led by the Spirit then it still comes from Him.
Either way, we must desire knowledge, seek it out, embrace it when we receive it and apply it to our lives.
This is how a wise man lives his life and impacts his family and those around him for eternity.
